A 13 NIGHTS/16 DAYS PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND, CZECH REPUBLIC, AUSTRIA, HUNGARY

Upon arrival at the Prague International Airport, we will be welcomed and check-in to the hotel.

 

Overnight stay in Prague (D)

After breakfast, we will visit the Castle Square, St. Vitus Cathedral and St. Nicholas Church. We will walk along the Lesser Quarter, visit and celebrate Holy Mass at Our Lady Victorious Church, where a renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague present. We will cross the well-known stone Gothic bridge called Charles Bridge which takes us out of the Lesser Quarter. Visit the renowned Renaissance Town Hall with its astronomical clock and then proceed to Church of Mother God before Tyn.

 

Overnight stay in Prague (B, D)

This morning we visit and celebrate Holy Mass at Loreta that consists of a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth, a Holy Hut, believed to be the Virgin Mary’s house that was miraculously relocated from Nazareth to Loreto in Italy. We will depart Prague for Wroclaw for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we travel to Lodz, where St. Faustina worked as a youth where we will visit the Lodz Ghetto, the second largest Ghetto in Poland after Warsaw during WWII.

Then visit the Church of St. Casimir where St. Faustina was baptized. Later in the afternoon, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Warsaw that includes the Warsaw Uprising Monument, Lazienki Park, the Chopin Statue, the Royal Castle and the Ghetto Memorial.

In the morning visit St James Church to celebrate Holy Mass, which was the early church that St. Faustina used to attend. We continue to Niepokalanow where we visit the Franciscan Monastery founded by St. Maximillian Kolbe. We continue our journey to arrive in Czestochowa, the home of the famous pilgrimage shrine in Poland, Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Today we will visit the Treasury which has historic importance and Jasna Gora Monastery, home of the Black Madonna, to revere the icon. Celebrate the Holy Mass at the Gothic Chapel of Our Lady which holds the famous Black Madonna icon.

Later we continue to Wadowice, the birthplace of St. Pope John Paul II and see the church where he was baptized and continue to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, to visit a monastery, a popular pilgrimage place for Pope John Paul II as a youth.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow (B, D)

This morning we journey to Krakow’s Market Square, to see the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall, and the Burgher House Museum. Continue to the Basilica of the Virgin Mary, the Coronation Chapel, and the Royal Chambers. Later in the afternoon visit Auschwitz, the infamous German Nazi concentration and extermination camp where St. Maximillian Kolbe was killed. We will watch an audio-visual presentation and pray at the cell of the St. Maximilian Kolbe, who gave up his life so that another prisoner might live.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow (B, D)

Today we journey to Lagiewniki, the home of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary where St. Faustina took her final vows as a religious and where the famous original Divine Mercy image resides. Jesus appeared to St. Faustina as the “King of Divine Mercy” and spoken to her of his desire for the image to be painted and revered, and for his message of Divine Mercy to spread throughout the whole world. We will see the tomb of St. Faustina and celebrate Holy Mass before leaving the Shrine.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow (B, D)

This morning, on the way to Zakopane, we will stop to visit the Wieliczka Salt Mines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On arrival at Zakopane, we will take a cable car trip to the top of Mt Kasprowy to relish breathtaking views. Visit the same Jaszczorowka Chapel that St. Pope John Paul II loved and celebrated the Holy Mass.

This morning depart Zakopane for a drive through picturesque former Yugoslavian countryside to the beautiful city, Budapest. The well-known Danube River splits the mountains of “Buda” and the plains of “Pest”, underlining an exciting comparison of past and present cultures.

 

Overnight stay in Budapest (B, D)

After breakfast, cherish a sightseeing tour to see the several elegant bridges over the Danube connecting the former cities of Buda and Pest. We will continue to visit the Royal Palace, Castle Hill, Coronation Church and Heroes Square.

 

Overnight stay in Budapest (B, D)

We depart Budapest to visit the Shrine of the Mary Mother of God in Bistrica. The shrine has been formally declared as the national shrine of Mary and the prime site of spiritual celebration and contains unique artistic works by Croatian sculptors. We continue on to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia for an overnight stay.

Today we drive towards Split, through the beautiful National Park in Plitvice where the water flowing over the limestone and chalk, has made a sequence of stunning lakes, caves, and waterfalls. We will continue to Split where we will visit the Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO Heritage site, and the Cathedral of St Doimus, patron saint of Split.

 

Overnight stay in Split (B, D)

After breakfast, we will journey to Sinj, a picturesque town, home to a marvelous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who according to legend protected its residents numerous times from the Turkish attacks. After a visit to the church of the Holy Virgin Mary in Sinj also known as the Mother of Mercy, we will continue to Medjugorje, one of the most famous shrines of Mother Mary in Europe.

 

Overnight stay in Medjugorje (B, D)

This morning we will trail the route up Apparition Hill, where it is said Our Lady first appeared to the visionaries. We take time to reflect and prayer before the cross that marks the site of the apparition. In the evening join with the pilgrims to pray the rosary and receive a message from the visionaries.  Take part in the celebration of Holy Mass and the Blessing of the Sick. The rest of the day is set aside for personal devotion.

 

Overnight stay in Medjugorje (B, D)

This morning we will celebrate the Holy Mass and then guide will introduce us to the visionaries to talk and pray with them. Later in the afternoon, we make the climb to Mt. Krizevac, Cross Mountain. The rest of the day is free for our personal reflections and we will join the evening Rosary with pilgrims from all over the world.

 

Overnight stay in Medjugorje (B D)

This morning we depart Medjugorje and transfer to the Sarajevo airport for our return flight en route to Australia. (B)
